an archive of unidentified people
2018 – 2019
cameraless photography / photo chemicals / darkroom processes / isolation / identity
2018-2019, I did a collaborative project at the Tate Archive. I was intrigued by the archive’s large collection of photos of unidentified people, the the ‘lost’ and ‘forgotten’ people of the archive. These people have no names, no stories, no identities.
I created a series of photo paintings in a traditional darkroom by using a selection of the photos as a base. My intention was to pour light onto the idea of being forgotten and turn the photographs into unique pieces of art that need to be looked at.
